Russia Launches Massive Attack on Kyiv with 500 Drones and 40 Missiles
Russia launched one of the largest attacks on Kyiv in months, using approximately 500 drones and 40 missiles, including Kinzhal missiles. The attack killed 2 people and wounded at least 46, including two children. Over 1 million households in and around Kyiv lost power, and more than 40% of residential buildings lost heat as temperatures hovered around 0°C.
Russia targeted energy infrastructure including the TPP-5 power plant and Bila Tserkva plant. The timing—just before Trump’s scheduled meeting with Zelenskyy—was seen as a deliberate show of force during peace negotiations, demonstrating Russia’s continued ability to inflict damage on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
